Our hosting plans are made for websites: blogs, business sites, online shops, membership sites and similar. "Unlimited monthly traffic" on our paid plans means you don't pay extra for visitors. It is not a limit we expect normal websites to reach. This page explains what fair use means, so every site on the server stays fast.
Free hosting
Free hosting is a bonus that comes with selected membership plans. We offer it to help our members build and grow their online business, so it is meant for a real, working website.
- Your main domain must be active and point to your free hosting account, with a website on it.
- Free hosting is not for storing files: no download archives, backups, media libraries or other files that are not part of your website.
- If your main domain is not active for more than 30 days (for example it expired, or it points to another host), we send you an email. If it stays inactive after that, we may close the account to free up space for a member who will use it for its purpose.
- Free hosting stays available as long as your membership plan that includes it is active, and you confirm once a year that you still use it.
What every plan includes
Each plan has its own disk space, number of domains, email accounts and databases, as shown on the plan pages. Each account also has a fair share of the server's power:
| Plan | CPU | Memory | Monthly traffic |
| Free | 1 core | 512 MB | 50 GB |
| Personal | 1 core | 1 GB | unlimited (fair use) |
| Reseller (each client account) | 1 core | 1 GB | unlimited (fair use) |
| Business | 2 to 4 cores | 2 to 6 GB | unlimited (fair use) |
When a site reaches its share, it slows down for a moment instead of slowing down everyone else. Every plan also has fair limits on files, disk speed, tasks at once and database use that normal websites don't reach. Logged-in customers can see all of them in Plan limits in detail, or simply ask us.
Not allowed on shared hosting
- Using the account mainly to store or share large files: downloads, video or audio libraries, software mirrors, torrents.
- Streaming video or audio from the account.
- Storing backups or archives that are not part of a website.
- Running background programs, bots, crypto mining, game servers, proxies or VPNs.
- Bulk or unsolicited email. Each plan has a daily sending limit; for newsletters, mailing lists and autoresponders please use a mailing service such as Mailchimp or Mailjet (why and how).
- Anything illegal, or content that harms other people or our network.
What happens when an account uses too much
- We warn you first. You get an email when you reach 80% and 95% of your disk space, files or monthly traffic, and when your site often hits its power limits. Each email explains what to do and how to upgrade.
- Free plan traffic: at 100% of the 50 GB monthly traffic the account pauses until the 1st of next month. You can upgrade at any time to continue straight away.
- Unlimited traffic plans: if an account's use is far above normal websites and affects others, we contact you and suggest a better plan, usually Business. We only limit an account without asking first if it puts the server at risk.
- We never delete your website because of usage without several warnings and a clear deadline.
Your own backups
Please always keep your own copy of your website files and databases, for example with a backup plugin or from your DirectAdmin control panel.
